VDCForum LOD Specification

The VDCForum Global 2025 LOD Specification is a reference tool that aids in improving the quality of communication among Project Owners and their teams using Building Information Models (BIMs) on their projects. It achieves this by clarifying the 5 key characteristics of defining Model Elements MEs).

VDCForum Reality Capture and Level Of Acceptance (LOA) Specification

This specification combines both reality capture densities as well as tolerances. The specification was produced from the results of both PhD research and detailed project case studies in laser scanning by Ascend and BIMForum Contributors. The 2025 version is currently available, and we are seeking Contributor input for the 2026 version.

VDC Project Execution Plan

The Guide is for building owners and their design and construction teams who are new to Building Information Modeling on small to midsized projects. It is an aid in introducing fundamental concepts of BIM Execution Plans and the BIM aspects of Project Execution Plans (PEP). Teams sometimes abbreviate BIM Execution Plans as either BEP or BxP in industry documents that our taskforce has reviewed. In The Guide we will use the abbreviation “BxP” to refer to BIM Execution Plans or the BIM aspects of Project Execution Plans (PEP). Additionally, we will use “The Guide” to reference this document.

The purpose of The Guide is to introduce BxP concepts to teams on the smallest of projects that may have some team members who have never previously used BIM.
